Professionalism & Leadership
This is a large part of your grade this semester; 100 points out of around 400 possible points. Leadership in my class means being engaged in the course. It means your phone is turned in every class. Professionalism and Leadership means when you have learned something, you help others understand that concept too. It means you participate in class discussions, team activities and clean up to the best of your ability. Professionalism and Leadership is taking this class seriously, showing up daily and doing your best work. On days that I notice you are not your best self, your grade will drop 5 points. These points can only be earned back after several days of exemplary leadership.
Work hard. Be present. Stay engaged. Lift others up. Have fun!

Extensions
You must complete FOUR mini projects throughout the course of the semester (2 before spring break and 2 before finals week). These mini projects will allow you to have creative freedom. I will give you a prompt but you'll do all the designing. These mini projects are meant to take 2-3 class periods. You can work on them when you're done with a major project or if you need a break. Document size is 8.5x11. All extensions need to be titled as your fistlastname with extension number.

- Mini Sketching exercise: Google Kindergarten or Elementary Monster Drawings online and find one you like. Now create your own version using Illustrator.
- In this mini-exercise, first find a quote that you may have heard or that you like. Using just a sentence or two from the quote, design a graphic that conveys the feeling of your quote.
- Design a book cover! What is your all time favorite book? You can create a cover for a children's book, etc. Chipp Kidd is an amazing Graphic Designer. He has designed some of the most famous book covers. Look at his website to get some ideas. Make sure you incorporate the book title.
- Design a promotional flyer for the Guggenheim Art Museum. Look at the Guggenheim to find out what the building looks like, their art collection, etc. This flyer should make people want to come to The Guggenheim. Size needs to be 5.5x8.5.
- Create a design for a T-shirt or Hoodie. I can print your design on iron-on transfer paper that can then be ironed onto an article of clothing.

How to be Successful in Digital Art 2
Come to Class Prepared
Students should come to class ready to learn and experiment with the design programs and use class time appropriately. Students need to be free of distractions, ie cell phones, youtube, etc.
What to Do During/ After class?
Students will work through guided practice to learn new Digital skills, look at other Designers for inspiration and create their own visual stories.
What if You Miss Class?
Students must reference the website to what was missed. The course agenda is posted daily.
Where You Can Get Help Outside of Class?
How I can help: Come in during my office hours.
How can you help yourself: Come in to work during your off periods.
How your classmates can help you: Share you knowledge. We are all here to help each other.
INSTRUCTIONAL POLICY ON ACADEMIC DISHONESTY:
Academic dishonesty includes cheating and plagiarism. Cheating is the unauthorized use of assistance with intent to deceive an instructor or any other individual responsible for evaluating a student’s work. Note the following examples:
· Submission of any materials not prepared by students but presented as their own.
· The unauthorized possession and/or use of notes, books, calculators/ cell phones or the soliciting of assistance from another student during an examination.
· Illegitimate possession or disposition of examination or test materials and/or answer keys to tests and examinations.
Plagiarism refers to the use of another person’s work without giving proper credit to that person. A student must give proper credit through the use of appropriate citation format when (a) copying verbatim another person’s work (i.e., words, phrases, sentences, or entire passages); (b) paraphrasing another person’s work (i.e., borrowing but rewording that person’s facts, opinions, or ideas); and (c) summarizing another’s work (i.e., use of one’s own words to condense longer passages into a sentence or two).
CONSEQUENCES OF ACADEMIC DISHONESTY:
When dishonesty is evident, the following minimum sanctions will be applied:
First offense: The student will receive an “F” or “Zero” as the grade for the assignment.
Second offense: The student may receive an “F” for the course and may be expelled from the class.
Third offense: The student will receive an “F” for the course and may be expelled from the college.
